On a Date With My Book Boyfriend (1)

Welcome to the first ever "On a Date With My Book Boyfriend" post! This is a new series I'm starting that combines my love for book boyfriends, fashion, and cooking! Basically what I'm going to be doing is staging out a date with some of my favorite book boyfriends. I'll show you what I'm wearing. I'll tell you what I'm cooking. And I'll gush over my boyfriend of the day. Hope you guys enjoy! If you want to participate on your own blog, feel free. Just make sure to link back to me! Thanks!

So for my first date, I'm going out with my #1 man, Chaol Westfall. *swoon* I'm so nervous guys! I've loved him since his first appearance in Throne of Glass. I know what you're all thinking. Insta-love. But it wasn't! I just knew that he was amazing. And then when I read about him in Crown of Midnight??? I was hopelessly in love. He is perfect in every way. Honorable, strong, handsome. *sigh*

Oh crap! I better get ready!

Here's what I'm wearing:

Here's what I'm cooking:

Steak. Oh yeah. Seems like a good meal for Chaol. Something that he would love.
I'm going to do filet mignon on the grill. So this is what I do with my steaks. I marinate them in this marinade (which is seriously to die for) all day. Then you sear them at a really high heat on all four sides to lock in all those delicious juices (maybe 1-2 minutes on each side), then I lower the heat to medium and cook them until they reach the temperature I want them to. It's different depending on how you like your meat cooked. You can do the steaks on the grill if you have one. If not, sear them in a pan on the stove. Then stick them under the broiler for a few minutes until the reach the desired temperature.

I'm going to make some baked potatoes to go with, complete with lots of butter, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and bacon (I don't like bacon, but I have a feeling Chaol does).

I'm also going to do some corn on the cob on the grill. Here's the way I do mine:

Shuck the corn.
Brush a liberal amount of olive oil onto corn cobs.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Wrap in tin foil.
Throw on the grill (medium-high) heat for ten minutes on each side.

This makes the corn so sweet, you wouldn't believe it! Slather with butter (can you tell I like butter?) and you're good to go!

I'm also going to make some dinner rolls because you can't have a meal without some kind of carb...

For dessert:

Something light and summery. Strawberry shortcake maybe? Mmmm...  I'm going to try this recipe.

After I'm done with all that cooking, Chaol and I will sit down to a romantic and intimate dinner on my balcony lit by candlelight. We'll talk about how much we have in common. I'll get him to open up about his family and his goals for his future. And I'll tell him about all my dreams for OUR future. Which include getting married, living in a fabulous castle and having beautiful children. Children that we can teach things to, like how to defend oneself against an evil King. How to capture your heart's desire (by cooking him an awesome steak dinner, obviously!). And after we've gone through several bottles of wine, it will finally be time for him to go home.

What do you guys think? Did I get a second date? Did I get a goodnight kiss? I better have after all that cooking! But I don't kiss and tell. ;)

Did you enjoy this post? Want more like it? Any comments or suggestions you have are more than welcome!

    1. Hahaha I think a lot of book bloggers would be angsty mortal enemies if Chaol was real.
