Top Ten Books I've Read So Far This Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!

I've read some awesome books so far this year. Surprisingly a lot of contemporaries that I have just fallen in love with. Contemporary is not my go-to genre, but I'm so glad I've been giving more contemporaries a chance this year because as you can see, it's been working out for me.

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Amazing contemporary thriller. Blew my mind.

Me Since You by Laura Weiss: I've never cried so much reading a book. So so good.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: I fell in love with this book without even realizing I was falling in love.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: Rainbow had me head over heels in love with these characters before I even hit the 100 page mark.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover: What a powerful story. LOVED this book. And of course, fell in love with Dean Holder. ;)

A Mad Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller: I fell in love with every part of this book. The setting. The main character. Will. So many feels.

Code Name Verity  by Elizabeth Wein: THIS BOOK. One of my favorite books I have ever read. A powerful and heart-breaking story of friendship.

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski: This book totally lived up to all the hype. I loved this world and these characters.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi: A fabulous ending to the series, this book was awesome. I sticky-noted the crap out of it.

Cress by Marissa Meyer: This series gets better and better with each book and I am dying to get my hands on Winter!!!

What are the best books you've read so far this year? Any of yours match mine?

  1. The Fault in Our Stars is probably top 5 book for me. I just love it so much. It's one of the few sad books that I have read more than once. Glad you loved it! And Cress, Hopeless, Don't Look Back, and Eleanor and Park are books I've also enjoyed! Great list. :)

  2. It's always good to discover new things you love. I enjoyed The Winner's Curse (and I'm happy to see more secondary world fantasy creeping into YA).

  3. I keep hearing this about Me Since You! I picked it up and had no idea that it was so emotional! I'm going to have to read it soon, since everyone loves it! Don't Look Back made my list too! And yay for Hopeless! I love Dean Holder too! The Winner's Curse and Eleanor & Park are both on my TBR, as is A Mad Wicked Folly! I can't wait to read them!

    1. Neither did I. I thought it would be sad, but I didn't expect to get so emotionally involved in the story.

    1. But then I think about it and after Winter it's over and that makes me so so sad.

  8. Great picks. The Winner's Curse made my list too, I need book two NOW! I loved TFIOS when I read it, can't wait to reread it before going to see the film. Happy to see Cress on so many lists, about to read that one myself,

  9. Your fantasy, science fiction and historical fiction picks are some of my favorite books too! Three of them actually made my "top in 2014" list :) It always makes me happy when I see some of my own favorites on these lists.
