Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!
Yeah, I definitely couldn't limit this to ten. Because that's like asking a bookworm what their favorite book is. You just. Don't. Do. That. So I broke it down by genre.

Twas the year of fantasy! Some of the best books I read all year were fantasy novels and I'm not stopping in 2015. I'm totally hooked. High fantasy = greatest thing ever.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - This is quite possibly definitely the best book I've read all year. Sarah J. Maas ripped my heart out of my chest with this book. She stole my feels and left them in a puddle at my feet. Mind blown. And now I will continue to read mediocre books until I can get my hands on the next thing of awesomeness that IS Sarah J. Maas.
The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas - Is it any surprise that Sarah landed on this list twice? If you haven't read this prequel novellas yet, get on it! One word: Sam.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - I dabbled into adult fantasy this year and oh my gosh, this book was amazing!! I'm definitely reading the second one in 2015.
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - My feels!!! I loved this book so much and am super jealous of all you lucky people who have already read the second one.
The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas - This was an amazing sequel and I can't wait to see how it's all going to end. The magic wands, the cool creatures, the dark villain. Oh and of course, the swoony romance.
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch - This was such a unique new fantasy series! I loved the different Season and Rhythm Kingdoms and I am super excited about the romance. Prince Theron has claimed my heart forever.
City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster - I was so surprised by how much I loved this book and its companion novel. The world was unique, the main character was amazing, and there were awesome Spotted Cats. Yep. Cats. Sold.
Well there, JLA, you just dominated my paranormal list.
Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout - Hot demons and gargoyles. Team Roth. That is all.
Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout - Seth!!!!!!!!!
The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout - SETH!!!!!!!
Crushed by Eliza Crewe - This is such an awesome paranormal series! The main character, Meda, is hands-down, the funniest mc I've ever met. You all need to read this one!
One of my resolutions last year was to read more contemporary and I definitely accomplished that goal. I am loving it and hope to continue to find awesome contemps in 2015.
Far From You by Tess Sharpe - I loved this story about a girl who's a recovering drug addict trying to find out what happened to her best friend. Emotionally moving, this is one I highly recommend.
Me Since You by Laura Wiess - This book broke me. I don't think I've ever cried so hard over a book before. But it was such an amazing story. If you can handle tear-jerkers, I highly recommend.
Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout - JLA strikes again. This thriller was insane. So many twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I was like screaming at the book when I got to the end.
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover - Dean f***ing Holder.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - Another tear-jerker. Sobbed during the book. Sobbed during the movie. So many feels.
A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller - Definitely on my favorite books I read all year, this story set in London during the Women's Suffragette movement was amazing!! Will!!!!
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers - What a perfect ending to this series. So sad that it's over, but so happy with the way Robin LaFevers wrapped it all up. Assassin nuns, people.
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - Another book that made me sob my eyes out. Set during WWII, this one just destroyed me. What a beautiful story of friendship.
Cress by Marissa Meyer - I get a stupid smile on my face every time I think about this series. One of my favorite series ever and it seriously gets better with each book. If you're still on the fence, take the plunge. I promise you won't regret it!
Winterspell by Claire Legrand - I've gushed about this book A LOT on my blog. But that's because it totally deserves it. This Nutcracker retelling was so original. The mc was awesome, but the one who really stole the show for me was the villain. That's right. Read it!
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi - I got kind of burned out on dystopians this year, but I can't complete this list without talking about this book. This whole series is amazing and the last book was no exception. WARNER!!!
Those are the best books I read all year. What's on your list? Any of yours match mine?

I haven't read THE ASSASSIN'S BLADE yet but the series is on my list along with THE LUNAR CHRONICLES even though I need to read Cress. It's not on my list but I quiet enjoyed CODE NAME VERITY. I really want to read SNOW LIKE ASHES.
ReplyDeleteOmg they are so good!! It feels like getting a whole new book in the series. Lunar Chronicles is another series that I have all the love for!
DeleteI hope you enjoy Snow Like Ashes when you get to it!
The Winner's Curse is definitely on my list, as well!
ReplyDeleteKate @ Ex Libris
So good!!!
DeleteNope, none of mine match yours. Cress fell just outta my top 10. If I had a top 20, it would have landed there. I'm one of those rare book lover who have ONE definitive favorite book ever, and don't mind that question at all. Like finding my soulmate, it's just the one perfect book, for me. :) (The Night Circus, if you are wondering.) Thanks for sharing! Here's my Favorite Books of 2014.
ReplyDeleteYou are a rare species among us. I get panicky when people ask me what my favorite book is. Lol. I have yet to read The Night Circus, but I really want to!!
DeleteThe Name of The Wind is in my top books, EVER. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one! The first time I read it, I just LOVED on it and read it over a period of like 5-6 months because I would read, then reread, then reread passages over and over again before I moved on to the next section of the book. Every time I see that someone else has read it, I feel like high-fiving or fist-bumping. (:
ReplyDeleteYes, I definitely want to reread before I read the second one next year. It was just so freaking good! So rich and imaginative. I loved Kvothe.
DeleteI love how you did this. I adore Armentrout, Maas, Meyer, Hopeless, and I am dying to read The Winner's Curse. Great picks. It looks like we have similar taste.
ReplyDeletehere's my TTT
Also, I still have my $30 Amazon giveaway going.
Read The Winner's Curse soon!! It's so good!!
DeleteOh wow!! Lots of good ones here! Firstly so envious that you got to read The Return already! I love Jennifer's books!! So excited about this one too! Pretty much loved all the ones you mentioned! If it's JLA and paranormal I love it! Though I did enjoy Don't Look Back as I do occasionally read the thriller kind of read and she sooo nailed that one! And ooh Snow Like Ashes! Dying to read that one!
ReplyDeleteLoved Ignite Me as well! And Cress! It was awesome! So yeah I definitely agree with these picks! LOL!
Here's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Omg it is soooo good!!! I stood in like a 2 hour line at BEA for it and it was worth every minute of that wait. JLA is just like a writing goddess. Lol.
DeleteI hope you enjoy Snow Like Ashes when you get to it!
Such an awesome list! I need to catch up on the Throne of Glass series and also just read more high fantasy books in general in 2015. I want to read all of the books you mentioned for the Fantasy section of your list so hopefully I will get around to those. The Winner's Curse is one that I've heard so many people talk about as one of their favorite reads of 2014 so I really want to read it sometime in the new year, and the sequel as well. And Cress is definitely one of my favorites as well, and I remember you saying how much you enjoyed Winterspell so I'm going to pick that one up soon!
ReplyDeleteYes to more fantasy!! It's definitely my favorite genre. I love the imaginative worlds, the magic, the swoony boys and the badass characters. So excited to see what you think of Winterspell!
DeleteSo many great books on your list! JLA…she is the queen of paranormal, that's for sure. Fantasy…my favorite genre lately. I still need to read The Name of the Wind!
ReplyDeleteIgnite Me…er, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. :)
Great list! ~Pam
She definitely is the Queen of Paranormal. And any other genre she writes. She's just amazing. Name of the Wind is so good! I think you'll like it a lot.
