It gets hard to keep up with blogs doesn't it? I used to be so good at commenting regularly, reading about all the awesome books people were reading and adding them to my TBR. But working full-time and maintaining all the other responsibilities I have in my life makes it challenging to keep up. I know I'm not alone here. That's why I love wrap-up posts so much. It gives me all the blog's recent posts in one place and highlights which ones I should read. And I do my own wrap-up posts on the blog here at the end of every month, but even those can get tediously long. And reading a whole review? That can be even longer. Don't get me wrong, I love reading reviews, but not all of use have time to read long reviews (and mine, as much as I try, tend to be long). So I wanted to highlight a few books I've read recently that I think you should read and give you a one to two sentence review on each. (click the link for my full review)
Made You Up is the story of a schizophrenic girl struggling to see reality. Beautifully and honestly written, this is a great look at mental health and the effect it can have on someone's life.
The Girl at Midnight is a unique fantasy about a race of people with feathers for hair and a race of people with dragon's scales and the power of flames. Kick-ass human main character who doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of her family.
A prequel to The Program series, The Remedy was, in my opinion, even better than the original duology. A story of a girl who plays the part of dead children to help their parents move on. An interesting look at grief and the toll it can take on the human mind.
Things We Know by Heart is about a girl who lost her boyfriend and is tracking down the recipients of his organs. But when she finds the boy who has his heart, she doesn't expect to feel what she does. Absolutely beautiful story, set in a beachside town that I loved every second of.
Every Last Word is another book that examines mental illness, specifically OCD and anxiety. I was able to connect with this book on a personal level and thought that the author did a fantastic job depicting how controlling these mental illnesses can be. She clearly did her research.
Have you read any great books lately you think should be on my radar? Have you read any of these?

They all look amazing! I need to read The Program soon cause the prequel cover looks AMAZING! And I'm definitely putting Girl of Midnight & Every Last Word in my tbr list! Great blog post! Happy reading! :D
ReplyDeleteYes, the prequel is so good! You could definitely read it before or after The Program as well. I hope you enjoy Girl at Midnight and Every Last Word, both so good!
DeleteI really liked all of these, especially Girl at Midnight. The only one I haven't read is The Remedy, and I really should read it, I've had it forever. ~Pam
