Wendy @ Book Scents tagged me to do the Burn, Rewrite or Reread tag! I'm super excited, but also a bit scared to participate in this...
The Rules:
The rules: there are three rounds, wherein I ask my husband to pick a random number and apply it to my “read” shelf on Goodreads for three books, and then decide what I’ll do to those three: burn, rewrite, or reread!
Round One:
Oh god, this is terrible. How could you do this to me Wendy????
Burn: I guess I'll go with Magonia. Even though I really did enjoy the book, I didn't LOVE it and since I LOVED the other two, I really have no other choice. Sorry, book.
Rewrite: After careful consideration, I'm going with The Siren. Only because I want more Soren in the first book. And every book. And also more Kingsley. Always more Kingsley. But really this book is perfection.
Reread: Lirael. I just reread this book actually and loved it just as much as I did way back when when I first read it (middle school). Also I could never rewrite this book because there's no way my brain could come up with a world as elaborate and unique as Garth Nix has.
Round Two:
Burn: Sublime. I was so excited about this book, but then it was just terrible. The main character was awful, the romance was horrible insta-love and the writing seemed like it was trying to hard. No thanks.
Rewrite: Drawn. I didn't like this book, but I think it had potential. I picked it up because of the CIA aspect, but found that it lacked the high stakes and adventure I was looking for. I think with a bump up to the plot, it could be really enjoyable.
Reread: False Memory. So I don't really remember anything about this book, but I reread my review and apparently I really loved it. Who knew? So I guess I should probably reread so I can rediscover the awesomeness.
Round Three:
Burn: A Wicked Thing. A Sleeping Beauty retelling that sounded like it was right up my alley, but the truth is this book was so boring. I never go into it and I didn't care about any of the characters.
Rewrite: Extras. So I read this a long time ago. Before I even blogged so I don't even have a review to go look at. I remember liking it, but feeling like it was missing something from the original series as this is a companion novel to the Uglies series. So I think I'd rewrite it and try to capture that original series feel.
Reread: Cinder. Obvi. Best fairytale retelling ever. Seriously I have so much love for this series. Marissa Meyer is a genius and I will definitely be rereading all these before Winter comes out this year. Woot!
Now I'm tagging:
Kelly @ Belle of the Literati
Pam @ YA Escape from Reality
And anyone else who wants to join in!
What do you think of my choices?

This is going to be too hard!!! I hate saying bad things about books, but I'll give it a try. What if I love all three books????? ~Pam
ReplyDeleteHaha, the first round nearly killed me. For real though. Almost died. Have fun!!!
DeleteThe first round was just brutal for you! haha. I haven't read any of the others yet. faaail. such a fun tag though :)
ReplyDeleteUh yeah, it was terrible. I almost cried trying to choose between all three. Even Magonia. I mean, I didn't love it, but I certainly didn't want to burn it!! But this was a very fun tag, thanks again for tagging me!
