Top Ten Best Sequels Ever!
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi: This book was just amazing. Nothing could make me put it down while reading. And obvi Warner. Warner. Warner. Chapter 62. *flails!*
Crown of Embers by Rae Carson: I fell in love with The Girl of Fire and Thorns and didn't think there was any way that the series could get better. But it did. This book was amazing. Hector! *squeals*
Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards: These books are so surprisingly good. I feel like a lot of people don't read them/haven't heard about them, but you all need to get on it! Black City was amazing, but the sequel blew it away. I mean there are Darklings and an evil government. Dystopian meets paranormal. Perfection.
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer: One of my favorite series ever. Cinder surprised me so much with how much I loved it and Scarlet didn't disappoint. It was amazing and I loved every single one of the new characters.
Fragments by Dan Wells: A 564 page book that felt too short. That's how you know it's good. When 564 pages later, you're wondering how you read that so fast and why there are no more pages. This series is incredible. If you haven't read it yet, better go pick up Partials and get started right now. A perfect dystopian/science fiction read.
A Million Suns by Beth Revis: I'll let you guys in on a little secret...I didn't care too much for Across the Universe. I just had a really hard time getting into it until the very end. The end saved it and made me decide to read the next one. I am so glad I did. Holy crap. I couldn't believe how much my opinion of the series changed. There's space. There's love. There's mystery. There's deception.
The Scorch Trials by James Dashner: I love the Maze Runner series so much and can't wait for the movie that's coming out in February, 2014. The sequel was incredible. You think "oh it's finally over, I feel so relieved for these characters." But guess what? It's not. And it gets even better in this book.
Prodigy by Marie Lu: Marie Lu is a master of her craft. I adored Legend and when I picked up Prodigy, I prayed that there would be no second book syndrome. There wasn't! It was just as incredible as the first one, if not more. This series is amazing and I am dying to read Champion! Come on November!
Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon: Another series that I feel is highly underrated. Sherrilyn Kenyon is known for her adult Dark-Hunters series, but this is a spinoff YA series. The writing is incredible. The characters are perfection. Mortal Instruments meets Caster Chronicles. The sequel was even better than the first one. The main character, Nick, is amazing. Go read this series right now!
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare: And every single other book in the series. Cassandra Clare is a genius. I love her so much. All of the book in this series are amazing. Action-packed with enjoyable characters. I wish I could crawl inside these books and live there.
What are your favorite sequels? Have you read any of these series? What did you think of the sequels? Leave me a link to your Top Ten below or just list your answers in the comments section!

Unravel Me, Scarlet, and City of Ashes was on my list too. How did I forget Fragments? That was such an awesome sequel, I think it was better than the first book. And same with Crown of Embers. I just thought the first book was ok, but the second was amazing. Oh well. Just too many great sequels, not a bad problem to have! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteFragments was definitely better than Partials. Crown of Embers and Bitter Kingdom were amazing as well! Better than the first one for sure. Have you read Bitter Kingdom yet? Definitely not a bad problem to have. I could have made this list go on and on.
DeleteI think I have all of these except the Beth Revis currently in my TBR. Shame on me! (I have the third Revis title in the stack.)
ReplyDeleteThe Across the Universe series is very good. You should definitely read it. Awesome YA scifi which are hard to come by. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteYou have such an incredible list!! :) I agree Black City is definitely underrated. It's a great book that combines two of my favorite genres. I also really liked Elijah, not for Natalie, but I liked him as a person.
ReplyDeleteYes fantasy and dystopian! *does happy dance* Yeah, I liked Elijah as well. Hopefully he will find someone to love in book 3!
DeleteCrown of Embers is on my list too. Every book in that series is awesome! It had absolutely no slump writing-wise which seems to be a rare thing these days! :) Great list.

Very true. I feel like a lot of times the second book in a series sucks (second book syndrome) but with that series there was zero slump. Each book got better than the last. I'm so sad it's over now, but I loved Bitter Kingdom! Thanks for stopping by!
