Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!
This week's topic is pretty awesome. We got to come up with ten things that we would love for authors to write about. How fun is that! There's a lot of books I would love to see written (maybe I should write them myself...) and a lot of things I just generally want to see more of in the YA genre. Here's my top ten!
Do you guys agree with any of these? Or know of any books on these topics I should read? What's on your reading wishlist?
I LOVE MAKE IT OR BREAK IT! Just had to let you know, haha. Great post, btw. I agree with a lot of your picks. I love the "SciFi from alien's perspective" one! :D

Yay! Glad I found a fellow fan. :) Maybe I'll write that Scifi one....
DeleteSci-fi frm the alien's perspective would be interesting!

I definitely agree. Especially since I feel like human's are ruthless and really would take over another species' planet. (wow, I'm cynical...lol)
DeleteLove your choices. :) For Prohibition, there probably could be a YA novel. The only reason I say that is there is an American Girl history mystery set during that time. Buuuutttttt, it probably wouldn't be as awesome as a NA novel set during Prohibition. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. There could be and someone mentioned Bright Young Things to me which is a YA prohibition novel. But I feel like it would be more fun with NA. Good NA. Something not centered around a romance with a damaged guy.
DeleteI would love more books with dragons, or books that feature an Olympic athlete! I think the prohibition time period would be fun too! I may be wrong, but I think I heard that the YA/NA books Vixen, Bright Young Things, and The Luxe may have been set around that time period. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! :)

Yes, someone else told me Bright Young Things. I don't think The Luxe was prohibition, but I loved that series and Bright Young Things is by the same author so I'm definitely going to check it out. I'll have to check out Vixen. Thanks for the rec!
DeleteI loved Make it or Break it! There's Letters to Nowhere by Julie Cross that is about competitive gymnastics, you should check that one out if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to dragons, sci-fi from alien perspective, pirates, and books set in exotic locales. I really enjoyed Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard, by the way.
Great list! ~Pam
I haven't heard of that one! I will definitely check it out. Yay for another Make it or Break it fan!
DeleteI will also check out Wanderlove. Never heard of that one either.
Good list, I would love for more books to have sister relationships and I don't understand why more authors don't write about since whenever I write I seem always write about sisters. I would love for there to be a bigger focus on family life in general as well. I would love to read about a gymnast or a figure skater as well especially because their sports are more psychological than most with them striving to achieve perfection.
ReplyDeleteI agree about a focus on family life. It's often way too absent in YA.
DeleteYes! Exactly. I want to know more about what they actually go through. The day to day pressures of their lives.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nice list! I love books about sisters, too. I have two of them and I agree with you -- they're really fascinating relationships. FANGIRL showed it well, I think. I also really like THE SPACE BETWEEN US by Jessica Martinez.

I've never heard of The Space Between Us, but I will definitely check it out! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSisters was on my list too! And, okay, I totally agree about horseback riding!! I rode for quite a few years too! I haven't ridden for hte longest time now (this makes me very sad) but I would love books about it!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww really?? That's awesome! I just had to sell my horse. :( I moved to VA right outside of DC and I couldn't afford to have him anymore. He's with a really good family now, but I miss him.
DeleteYES TO SISTERS :) Jeez and Pirates, thats great. Although someone told me that this amazing gentleman names Sturmhond that is in the second Grisha book is a pirate :) So there... another reason for you to read it now!!! AND YES to Prohibition! I just love that era!! AND RIDING! Ohemgee... your list is fabulous. Oh, have you read The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White? That is about Egyptian mythology and was a really great, fun read!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat??? I didn't know that Sturmhond is a pirate!! *drops everything and starts reading* Seriously though, I'm about to abandon all my ARCs and read. I haven't read The Chaos of Stars yet. I've read mixed reviews so have been kinda on the fence...
