Synopsis
from Goodreads:
The heart-stopping
conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom
Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children,
called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden
love"
Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.
In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

I’m sitting here trying
to put my feelings about this book into words. Scratch that. Into coherent
sentences. Because when I think about this book I just want to do this….
OrwihdbksbbdhkjSD,.ADBNADHabl;kahEWOBANljadh. Yep. That about sums up how I
feel about this book. I can’t express my joy or the perfection that is Tahereh
Mafi. Her writing continues to amaze and astonish me. Her prose is unmatchable.
Definitely the most gorgeous writing I’ve ever seen. There are a ridiculous
number of sticky notes in my copy because I just wanted to mark every passage I
read.
The one thing that
sticks out to me about this book is Juliette. Holy badass. Where did this girl
come from? I think back to how she was in Shatter Me. Cowering, terrified of everything, hating herself, and I am truly
amazed. She has come so far and in this book she was incredible. Strong (both
physically and mentally). Confident. Courageous. I love her. Seriously, one of
my favorite YA heroines. The only person who can surpass her in badassness is Celaena
Sardothien from Throne of Glass.
The second thing that
sticks out to me is Warner. Omg. I am Team Warner all the way guys. No, I am
not going to tell you who she ends up with. But seriously Warner got swoonier.
I forgot how sexy he was. How strong, confident, and gorgeous he was. All you
Warner haters and Team Adam people can just leave. Seriously it’s Warner all
the way. Juliette and Warner are a power couple and that’s why I have shipped them
so hard.
The third thing that
sticks out to me is Kenji. I freaking love Kenji. I felt like we saw a lot more
of him in this book and I loved that. He is so funny and such a good friend to
Juliette. Their relationship totally reminds me of Aria and Roar from Under the Never Sky. If I wasn’t so
hardcore Team Warner, I would definitely be Team Kenji.
In this book, Juliette
truly pushes through the last of her demons. She comes out strong, confident,
and independent. I loved loved loved watching her go through all that she did.
I loved watching her grow, watching her learn about her ability, discovering
new things and putting them into practice. And I loved her fierce desire to
take Anderson down. Because I hate him with a passion and he deserves to die a
slow, painful death.
I’m not going to say
much more, but just know that this book was amazing. The plot was fast-paced,
the writing was beautiful, the characters are intricate and enjoyable, and all
those little loose ends were tied up. I will say one thing though. The ending was just slightly too open for my taste. There are no unanswered questions, but I wanted a little more closure. But this is such a small complaint that it didn't even matter. If you haven’t started this series, what
are you waiting for? Go out and buy the books now. You are not going to regret it
and you will probably die from feels like I did. I actually think I might be
dead right now, writing this review as a ghost…Because Tahereh Mafi must have
killed me. There’s no other explanation for the way I feel after finishing this
trilogy. I am going to go haunt people now. Happy reading all!
Have you read this yet??? What did you think? Were you happy with the way it ended? Please do not post spoilers in the comments. If you want to discuss spoilery stuff with me feel free to email me at lockhartbecca@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter (@LibraryCanary)!
We've already discussed this book so I won't say much here because all my comments would be spoilery. But I completely agree, this book was amazing and it was definitely all focused on Juliette and her growth and changes and she's finally standing up for herself and for what she thinks is right. As you know, I think the author went a little too far with it, but that's ok. And yes, the ending was a little open, but it wrapped up all of the personal story lines for the most part. And Kenji was definitely hilarious...love that guy! I still have a few issues for how convenient some things were and how certain people were portrayed (both good and bad). The author pushed a little too hard on that. But I still loved it! I might post a spoiler discussion sometime soon, after people have had more of a chance to read it. Great review! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love a spoiler discussion on your blog! I'm glad we both loved this one (even though there were a few minor things that we both would have changed).
DeleteI really need to read Unravel Me. It's sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read. I'm glad this book was good too. Gosh I feel so behind on reading!
ReplyDeleteWhat??? You haven't read Unravel Me yet??? Get on it girl! It's amazing!!!
DeleteSeriously, the best, the BEST book! I am totally in love with this book, in love with the author and so in love with Warner, ahh Warner! I need a book 4 and a book 5 and a book 6 and a... I want so much more, I'm hopeful Ms. Mafi is only teasing us and there will be more to come. I finished up the series this week and am having major hangover as this book is just that intoxicating! -Dana
ReplyDeleteGlad to meet another Warner fan!! Ahhh the feels and the swoons in this book nearly killed me. Yes, I would love if she was all of a sudden like "just kidding, there's more!" I don't think there will be though. I think Juliette developed into this final awesome character and I'm not sure how much further she could take her. Although there's definitely more plot to be explored. And I would mind reading more Chapter 62s and Chapter 55s...
DeleteI still need to read this! I'm always a bit nervous about the last book in a series, so I'm glad to hear such positive things about it! I really like hearing that it shows how Juliette's grown so much since the first book! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review!!!

Oh yes, so am I. Final books are always so scary. I mean look at what happened with Allegiant... But this one was really good! There were some minor things that bugged me, but I was able to let them go because overall it was fantastic. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
DeleteI didn't read your review yet because I haven't read it and I just want to go into it knowing nothing -- BUT rest assured, I will tweet you once I read it!! I'm sure I'll want to talk about it!!
ReplyDeleteI understand! And you better tweet me! I want to know all your thoughts and feels. :)
