Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!

So there's a lot of really popular authors that I haven't read. I feel like such a failure. You will be happy to know the Jennifer L. Armentrout did NOT make this list because I FINALLY read one of her books, White Hot Kiss, last week and freaking loved it! But there are a lot of authors on here that I'm totally embarrassed about not having read yet...

Well then... I think it's pretty bad that I own books from all of these authors except two (J.K. Rowling and Gayle Forman). I am failing miserably and apparently buy way more books than I can ever possibly read.

What are some popular authors have you not read? Do any of yours match mine? Do you buy way more books than you can read?

  3. My list is similar in that I own almost every book, but haven't gotten around to picking them up yet. Book worm problems, indeed. My Life Next Door made my list too. We should buddy read it soon or at least compare notes ;p. And I'm absouletly in love with the VA series. The first book was pretty awesome, but all the book past that one are beyond fantastic. So much love for that series. If I Stay I read in one sitting and it ripped out my heart.

  5. I've only read books from 4/10 of your authors. Katie McGarry and Huntley Fitzpatrick are great reads if you're trying to get into contemporary. I'd highly suggest their work.

John Green also made my list. I haven't read TFiOS. I own it, but I'm super scared to read it. Unlike you, I'm not a big fan of books that make me cry. I really don't like anything that makes me cry. I've heard so many good things about it though and want to read it, but as I said I'm so scared to read it. Such conflicting feelings.

    1. Yes, I've been getting into more contemporary lately and I feel like Katie McGarry and Huntley Fitzpatrick are staples to that genre.

I would be scared too if you don't like crying. Because I've heard that that book will rip you to pieces.

  6. Harry Potter should be a lazy summer day read-- the first book is definitely children's literature, so don't let that put you off from the rest of the series! They get darker and more complicated as you go, so stick it out when you do start them!!

Also, I put off The Fault in Our Stars for what felt like forever. Finally, one night I started reading it on the Kindle app on my phone at midnight... I stayed up until 3am crying as I read along (my husband woke up and thought I was losing it!) Now I teach it to my undergrads! You'll get to it when you get to it, don't fret!

    Here's my TTT!

    1. That's what I've heard about the first book and I've also heard a lot of people quit because of that so I'm prepared to push through!

I know I'll be sobbing once I start reading it. That's awesome that you teach it to your undergrads! How cool! I would have loved to read a book like that in college.

  7. Seriously, stop everything else and get started on this list. Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone is a good read and really unique. Super powers, orphans, hierarchy, love, corrupt government; it's got it all. The Raven Boys, just eh...honestly found myself skimming just to get through it. Fitzpatrick's is a great summer read, quick and easy, yet enjoyed it. Please grab your tissues before reading John Green; my eyes are still burning and my heart still aches. And Harry Potter? My goodness, that's just unbelievable. Girl, get to it, you have a lot to read. -Dana

    1. hahaha I know. I'm such a failure. Lol. I will get to them all, I promise! Hopefully sooner rather than later. I wish that life didn't get in the way of reading. Like, what? I have to go to this job thing where they will NOT pay me to read? Not cool.

  8. It's funny - the first time I read The Raven Boys I was underwhelmed, but when I read the sequel, The Dream Thieves,it totally blew me away. Now I'm Maggie Stiefvater obsessed just like everyone else and highly recommend the series. :-)

  9. I'm so glad you finally read JLA! Now you really have to read Richelle Mead...and Gena Showalter. You have to meet Dimitri and Adrian and Cole. Dimitri is like Chaol and both Adrian and Cole have that bad boy thing going on. ~Pam

    1. haha I'm going to! I promise! But it is a bit intimidating. Everybody loves them so much. What if I don't? Oh I know I will love S&B. I kinda want to wait for R&R though so I can binge read the series.
