My Review:

I finally did it! This book is well-loved by many bloggers that I follow/am friends with. (Looking at you, Betty.) But for the longest time I was not interested at all. I don’t like zombies. I think they’re gross and stupid and they just don’t do anything for me. But everyone was like, this is different, you should read it anyway. So I did. Because I was promised a swoony man named Cole Holland.

Well swoony man delivered. Let’s just go straight to Cole. Holy hot as hell. Cole is…. Yeah. I have no words. He’s just that good. He’s dangerous. He’s fierce. He’s protective. He’s mysterious. He’s everything I look for in a good book boyfriend. I fell in love with him from the start and was drooling over him the whole book. Gena Showalter sure knows how to write those steamy scenes. I was fanning myself and wishing that I was the one Cole had pushed up against the wall… Sorry, Betty. I know, I know. He’s yours.

But aside from Cole, this book was really good. I loved Ali. She was so strong, but also so weak. In a good way. In a real way. Ali doesn’t back down. She’s fierce and not afraid to stand up for herself. But she’s weak in the sense that she doesn’t always make the best decisions. But that’s something I loved about her. We don’t always make good decisions and given her circumstances, I understood every decision she made (stupid or not).

The zombies. I didn’t like them. That’s why this book doesn’t get five stars from me. I just don’t like zombies. Other bloggers described them as more like spirits, which they are, but they’re still gross, disgusting zombies. They still smell. They’re still deadish people. And it just turned me off every single time they were being described.

But even with my distaste for zombies, I’ll definitely be continuing the series. Between the exciting plot line, the fierce characters and the swoony romance, I’m hooked. Bring on the next book! Happy reading all!
