I'll Cry a Thousand Tears For You

I like books that make me cry. You all think I'm weird now right? Well I don't care. I love when books can evoke such strong emotion from me. If I'm crying it's because it's a powerful, meaningful story that has reached inside me and taken a piece of my heart. And I love that. So today I wanted to discuss some of the books that have made me cry and explain why I cried.

THESE DISCUSSIONS CONTAIN SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK REFERENCED YET, SKIP OVER OR RISK BEING HORRIBLY SPOILED.

  1. The only ones I've read are Fault in Our Stars and Hopeless and although I loved both of them, I generally don't like sad books, I prefer the light and fluffy. But I do read a decent amount of NA, and a lot of those have some sort of sadness to them. Have you read Ugly Love? I definitely had tears in my eyes at a certain point. ~Pam

    1. Not yet, but I plan to. I have heard so many amazing things about that book. Twitter was blowing up over it the other day.

  2. There are some books that just make me ugly cry for hours. Like Second Chance Summer, Before I Die, Jellicoe Road, The Sky is Everywhere, and Ketchup Clouds. Is it weird that I kind of like to cry sometimes? It's cathartic! haha

    1. Not weird at all! I like books that make me cry because they really take you on that emotional journey. I really want to read The Sky is Everywhere!!! I've heard great things about that book!

  3. I only read a few of these to avoid some spoilers, but I love this topic! I have a love/hate relationship with books that make me cry. I usually end up delaying as much as possible books that I'm 99% sure will make me cry (just from what people have said), because I don't necessarily *want* to cry, but when I'm just happily reading a book and it happens to make me cry, it can be so good. It reminds me how important the empathy I'm feeling is, and how stories can touch people in such a beautiful way. Me Since You was definitely one of those. :)

    1. Yes, I agree. I just love the emotions that some books can evoke and if that means I'm sobbing my eyes out so be it. Me Since You definitely caught me by surprise. I had never read a book before that had made so openly sob. But it was so good and I absolutely loved it.

    1. Yes, totally agree. Omg. Stop saying that line. Makes me tear up just thinking about it. :'(

haha it's okay. To each his own right? Every book affects every person differently. Did you see the movie? Curious if you cried watching it come to life?
