Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!
So I get a lot of hate for reading YA. And most of the time that hate comes from somebody that is completely ignorant on the genre. And it really makes me angry. So when I saw the topic for this week's TTT I knew I had to recommend YA books for people who have never read YA.
Who did you recommend books to this week? What do think of my choices? Any that you would add to this list?
*applauds* This is an awesome guide, Rebecca. For contemporary fans, I'd probably add Falling into Place, Fangirl, and Second Chance Summer, and fantasy-wise, I'd add the Grisha trilogy and The Winner's Curse, but I agree with a good majority of your choices.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT, if you have time to check it out: http://bookworm716.blogspot.com/2014/08/top-ten-tuesday-emmas-guide-to.html
I almost put Fangirl on the list, but then I thought it was considered more NA than YA. But yes, love that book! And Second Chance Summer was really good too! Winner's Curse!!! Loved that book! I haven't read the Grisha trilogy yet, but I own all three of them so hopefully I'll be binging them soon!
DeleteFantastic list! The only one I've started is City of Bones, but I didn't really enjoy it, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHere are my Top Ten!
Oh no! I'm sorry. :( I love that series.
DeleteI like your list! I actually read City of Bones.
ReplyDeleteI heard so many things about Between the Shades of Grey, Throne of Glass and Elenor&Park. I will soon give them a chance too, though I am currently stuck in a really long book.
What about dropping to see my Top Ten: http://bookinganotherpage.blogspot.ro/2014/08/top-ten-tuesday-2-books-id-give-to.html
All of them are sooo amazing! Which book are you currently reading?
DeleteGreat list! Loved A Mad, Wicked Folly, but I haven't read the other two, they seem so sad! Throne of Glass…yes!! I haven't even heard of the Abhorsen series, how bad is that? Do you think I would like it? And yes, City of Bones, I just love that series!! Black City…have you read Wings yet???? It's so good!! Are you planning on reading Ugly Love? It's getting great reviews. I bought it today so I'll probably read it soon. ~Pam
ReplyDeleteThey are sad, but they are soooo good! Highly recommend them!
DeleteYou probably haven't heard of the Abhorsen series because it came out like a decade ago. But yes I think you would love it! And the prequel, Clariel, comes out this fall! You should definitely check out.
No, I haven't read Wings yet!!! Epic fail. I need to get it, first of all, and I also don't remember anything from Phoenix so there's that. :(
I've been seeing raving reviews for Ugly Love! I'll definitely be reading it. Just need to get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteUMMM HECK YES to Code Name Verity. Seriously. I'm thinking about making my mom read this when she comes to visit next month... she will definitely cry over it, she cries even more than me haha. I started Mad wicked Folly, moved and then still haven't picked it back up... embarassing because I really WANT TO!
I just added The Girl of Fire and Thorns, sounds amazing and I'm definitely more into fantasy than I ever was before :) I need to read Throne of Glass soo soon but I think I will hold off until Heir of Fire is released so I can bulk read the awesomeness :) AND HOPELESS <3 Jeez... I'm so glad that you loved that one!11 I need to pick up Far From You also ... too many books !!!
haha yes! I bought Code Name Verity for my mom for her bday. She's going to cry like a baby when she reads it. Definitely pick a Mad Wicked Folly back up! Sooooo good!
DeleteOooh yay!! You will LOVE Girl of Fire and Thorns. And obviously you need to read TOG. You should just read it now because there are going to be six books so you'll have to wait anyway... :)
So many books, so little time, right?
Love the way you divided your lists! Also, I love seeing Sabriel on another list - I adore the Abhorsen trilogy, but it doesn't get much attention these days. I still need to get to Throne of Glass and Girl of Fire and Thorns. I'm also feel like I need to read Code Name Verity and Between Shades of Gray even though I'm not a big historical fiction person.
ReplyDeleteI know! I kinda forgot about it honestly, but with the prequel coming out, I was like oooh need to promote and reread!! Oh you totally have to read all four of those. So so good. I never used to be into historical fiction, then I read Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers which is historical fantasy and then I liked it so much that I decided to give regular historical fiction a try (even though it scared me a little) and I fell in love.
DeleteThrone of Glass again. How does this happen? Is there a newsletter I'm not getting?
ReplyDeleteHere's my list. I've started doing them on YouTube as an experiment. Like and comment if you get a chance. :)
