Discussion Post: Do Authors Think I'm a Creeper?

I was wondering this the other day after writing my Top Ten Best New-To-Me Authors post for Tuesday. Do authors think I'm a creeper? Or annoying? When I write posts like this, I tag the authors on Twitter. Just once for the day. I don't tag them twelve times a day or anything like that. Which I know they aren't annoyed by. But I do wonder if they get annoyed if I tag them multiple days within the span of, say, a week or two? Take Claire Legrand for example. I LOVED Winterspell. I seriously can't talk about it enough. So I tagged her in my review. And then she has shown up in multiple Top Ten Tuesday posts. And I'm pretty sure I just tweeted at her the other day to tell her I bought her book for my boss. And I'm hoping that she doesn't think I'm a creeper. Or annoying. But seriously guys, HER BOOK.

If I try to imagine myself in their shoes, I don't think I would be annoyed. I think I would be pretty thrilled that someone liked my book so much. But there's still that little piece of me that worries that it's overkill. That it's too much and every time they get a notification saying "@LibraryCanary" tagged you or whatever the case may be, they sigh a little and roll their eyes.

Am I crazy? Have you ever had these doubts or insecurities? If you're an author and you're reading this, have you ever gotten annoyed with a blogger constantly tweeting at you? (And by constantly I mean a couple times a week). I'm probably just being crazy and this is probably a really lame discussion post, but I wanted to share and throw it out there in the hopes that I'm not the only one wondering this.

  1. YES! I do worry about this a lot and so sometimes I don't even tag an author once in my original link to the review. Haha. Honestly though when I do talk about authors and tag them they are always lovely and grateful for the promotion.

    1. Lol I really don't think they care. Every time they are always really nice to me. And I was actually talking to an author about this and she said she loves hearing from me. Even if it's multiple times a week. I think we just worry for nothing. :)

  2. I would think they would be flattered and love it. Who doesn't want people loving your stuff and promoting it? But since I'm not on Twitter, my opinion is completely uninformed. ~Pam

    1. Very true. And they probably don't care. I'm just paranoid and a nervous fangirl when I talk to authors I love. Lol.

P.S. You should get on Twitter. :)

  3. I usually tag authors when I tweet about a review as I am assuming they probably want to read it, although when it's a 3 or 2 star review I am always a bit hesistant whether to tag an author or not. With posts like best new to me authors I think most authors are happy to get tagged. If you don't tag them they probably won't know it's there.

    1. True. I only tag for positive reviews. If it's below 3 stars, I won't tag them. I just feel like they don't need to read that. And I think you're right. Most authors probably really enjoy talking to their readers. :)

  4. Nahh I think most of them like it! When I tag authors for top ten tues posts I also only do it once that day but a lot of times they tweet back and say thanks! so I think they like it? but i get what you mean by wondering that.

also i really really want winterspell and I don't think anyone got it for me for christmas so that may be my first after christmas purchase. :) after christmas shopping for yourself... that's a thing, right?

    1. Yeah, I only tag them once in a day typically so I suppose that's probably not annoying right? And I think most of them like it bc I also get a lot of thank you tweets from them.
