January is over! Woohoo!! That means only like 2 more months until spring right? God, I hate winter so much. I'm so sick of the cold. The impending threat of snow. Warming my car up. Having to wear boots and then change into my real shoes at work. Having to put scarf, coat, hat and gloves on every time I'm brave enough to venture outdoors. Not wanting to wear my coat into the mall when I go shopping, but being too cold to leave it in the car. Winter just all around sucks doesn't it? It is good for one thing though. Reading. Nothing better than curling up under a blanket in the cold winter months with a hot cup of tea or coffee and a good book. Let's see how I did in January:

11 books last month! What a great month for reading I had. Book of the month? There were a lot of good ones, but I have to go with Golden Son because holy shit balls that book is amazing. Read that series if you haven't started it yet. An epic science fiction/dystopian.

In My Real Life:
Not much going on in January. Just lots and lots of work. I've been staying late a lot and it's just been all kinds of crazy busy.
I've had to stop running because of snow and cold, but I started doing some of the P90X workouts again which are hard as crap, but really good for me. I've also been eating healthier and I feel like I'm starting to see a difference which is great!
But other than that, a whole lot of nothing. Hopefully your January was more exciting than mine.
Fast-Forward
A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas: February 24th - Sleeping Beauty retelling!!
The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons: February 10th - Um, Kristen Simmons. I don't need to say anything else.
When My Heart Was Wicked by Tricia Stirling: February 24th - The age old struggle between good and evil.
The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury: February 5th 24th (Sorry, Goodreads lied to me...) - Oooh I love forbidden love. And the whole exploiting someone's abilities for evil.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab: February 24th - Parallel universes + magic. I can't contain my level of excitement for this one.
How was your January? Any books that you read that I need to know about? What February releases are you most excited about?

Oh wait -- the sin eater's daughter is out already?! i thought it wasn't yet but i really really want to read that one! sigh - i need to get back to a workout schedule. i'm a wuss with the cold so i don't want to go outside to run haha.
ReplyDeleteI was doing so well running in the cold before Christmas and then after I was like, nope, I'm done. But I'm still trying to workout at home so I don't die when I start running again. I'm getting pretty sick of dvd workouts tho...
DeleteYeah, I hate the cold too, which is why I love living in Texas! It was 72 and sunny today, gotta love it. Sorry, couldn't help it. :)
ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to Sin Eater's Daughter, Glass Arrow, and Darker Shade of Magic. So many great books coming out in February! ~Pam
Jerk! So jealous. I need warm again. Winter sucks.
DeleteI've read a couple reviews of Sin Eater's Daughter and people are loving it so far! It was on preorder yesterday (may still be today) for $2.99 for Kindle!! I definitely preordered it.
