Top Ten Fantasy Books I Can't Believe I Haven't Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!

As an avid fantasy lover, I am embarrassed to admit that I haven't read these books. Seriously. Don't judge me. I'll get to them all. Eventually...

Graceling by Kristin Cashore - I know. Horrible. I'm such a failure. I've had this book since last Christmas (2013...) and still haven't read it.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson - I just bought this book on Black Friday (Book Outlet sale, obviously...) and I can't wait to start reading. I've heard AMAZING things about Sanderson.

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo - *hangs head in shame* I don't know what my problem is. I own the entire series and I still haven't picked it up. I know I will love it. So what the heck is my problem??

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness - I've heard amazing things about this one too. It sounds so unique and original. I really hope I can get to it soon.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor - Oh god, you guys are all going to disown me aren't you? Between this one and Shadow and Bone, I'm embarrassed to call myself a fantasy lover.

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman - A self-proclaimed dragon-lover has not read this book. Epic failure.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater - Killer horses. A standalone. Maggie Stiefvater (Sidenote: I also haven't read the Raven Boys series...).

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes - I'm starting to feel pretty terrible about myself as a reader. All these good fantasy books.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows - I met Jodi at a signing once and she was so nice and I've heard great things about her books. So why the heck haven't I read them yet??

The Young Elites by Marie Lu - And probably one of my most embarrassing. I HAD TO HAVE THIS BOOK when it came out. I was DYING TO GET MY HANDS ON IT. Marie Lu is one of my FAVORITE authors. And I STILL HAVEN'T READ IT.

So now that you guys know how much of a failure I am...

Which one on this list should I read first? Please share your embarrassing lists so I can feel better about myself.

  1. YASSS MISTBORN. READ ALL THE SANDERSON!
Literally all the books on this list are great reads! You should probs get around to them all at some point haha. I don't know how it is with you, but I find that I have to be in the right mindset to read fantasy to really enjoy fantasy books- the woes of being a mood reader :P
BUT START WITH THE SANDERSON IT'S FAB :D

    1. haha, I knew you would be thrilled to see Sanderson on here. :)Yeah, I'm not really a mood reader, but I do have to be in the right mindset to read fantasy. I have to be prepared for the intricate plot lines and world-building since they just tend to have a lot more detail than other books. Hopefully I will get to all of these soon!!

  10. I've also missed a few of these. Thanks for the reminder. I have just finished reading Escape From Netherworld from David Kuklis and OMG just the best fantasy novel I have ever read.
I'm a big fan of dungeons and dragons and this book follows the adventure of a group of friends that become trapped int he dungeons and dragons world. They meet up beside a strange cave to role play the game but become trapped when the cave falls in and actually transform into their characters. It sounds like it could be cheesy but it really couldn't be further from that. It is wonderfully written and a real thrill a minute read. Worth adding to your list.
