Do you ever roam around the book blogosphere on Tuesdays and drool over everyone's beautiful Top Ten Tuesday graphics? And wonder how the hell they make them? I used to do that. And then I heard about PicMonkey and I decided to give it a whirl. It's super easy to use and while I still don't think I have the best graphics in the world, I think I've greatly improved and that's entirely due to this magical website. So I thought I would share some tips and pointers with you guys.
So the first thing you see when you get to the PicMonkey homepage is this screen. I normally click on Design (circled in yellow), although occasionally I use the Collage function as well.
So to the left is your dashboard and to the right is your canvas. You can resize and pick a color from this screen which I normally do first. Then I'll go to the text icon (circled in red) and write up whatever I want. PicMonkey has a lot of cool fonts you can use, but I also will download my own fonts from dafont which automatically upload to here and you can use whatever you want. So I'll add my text to my canvas and then I click on the little butterfly (circled in blue) and add some graphics. PicMonkey has a whole slew you can choose from, but you can also upload your own. I usually upload book covers to create my graphics.
So below I've done kind of a step by step guide to how I create my graphics:
So I've picked my canvas color and resized to 500x500. This size is typical for a lot of my graphics.
I added some text and just picked some random little graphics available on PicMonkey. And voila! It's done. Now all I have to do is hit save and my graphic is ready to use. The website itself is really user friendly and once you get used to it, you'll be flying through making your own graphics. And if you have any questions, please let me know!
What do you use to make your graphics?
