Juliette has
escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and
it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally
free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and
free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner,
who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this
exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me,
Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what
she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her
heart—and Adam's life.”
My Review:
Steamy, steamy, steamy. I need to go make out with somebody
right now. This book has some of the best kissing scenes I have ever read in a
young adult book. Damn, Tahereh Mafi! I was fanning myself a few times. Oh you
want to hear what I thought of the book? Sorry, I’m still completely distracted
by all the kissing. Focus. Okay, ready………………………………………….Sorry, started thinking
about the kissing again. Seriously now.
This book was amazing! The writing is the same amount of
incredible as the first book. Once again Tahereh Mafi blew me away with her
writing style, the detail she puts into it and the way you feel as if you are
living inside Juliette’s head, hearing her every intimate thought. Absolutely
breathtaking. There are no words to describe just how beautiful her writing is.
This book did not have as much action as the first one did. There were a few
really intense action-filled scenes, but I felt like this book was more about
Juliette discovering herself than anything else and I was completely okay with
that.
For the first half of this book, I wanted to jump through
the pages and shake Juliette. She keeps going on and on about how much she
despises what she is and what she can do and it’s a constant pity party. I kept
screaming in my head, there are bigger
problems in the world right now, sweetheart! Get over yourself! Ironically,
and also awesomely, almost the second these thoughts are running through my
head, Kenji says almost the exact same thing to her. Seriously, Tahereh Mafi,
did you plan that? If you did, you are damn good. But about halfway through the
book, she starts to turn it around and finds a new inner strength and that was
truly amazing to see. Her transformation was beautiful; she grew so much in
this book and I found myself feeling proud of her by the end.
Let’s talk about Warner. I have not read the novella Destroy Me, that is from Warner’s
perspective, but after this book, I am left with no choice but to download it
to my phone since I have no Kindle and it is only available as an e-book. I
normally don’t do e-books. In fact, I really don’t like them, but this one, I
am going to have to suck it up and read. I tried to hate Warner. I really did,
but (don’t hate me) I think I may have switched teams. Team Warner instead of
Team Adam. Warner is just so complicated and so hauntingly beautiful. We really
get to know a lot more about him in this book and it puts his entire character
into a completely different light. Please people, after you read this book,
comment on this post and tell me whose team you are on. I am desperate to know
what the general population thinks.
Overall, this book was wonderful. We get to learn a lot
about the Resistance group at Omega Point and what they are doing. We meet a
lot of new characters like Castle, leader of Omega Point, and we get to know
Kenji better (member of Omega Point). Let me just mention really quickly that I
love Kenji. He is so funny and brings some much needed comic relief to the
table. We see Juliette transform from a scared girl cowering in the corner, to
a woman full of strength and determination, and we get to see an entirely new
side of Warner that will end up making most of you feel like you’re being split
in half. Enjoy! The writing is beautiful and full of vibrant life. I highly
recommend this book! I am now going to go cry for four hours over the fact that the third book doesn't come out unitl February 2014. Happy reading all!
