Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we make lists of bookish things!

Halloween is right around the corner! I haven't actually read any horror books this month. I don't like scary movies and I typically don't like scary books so yeah... I know, I'm super lame. But I can show you guys some super creepy covers! I haven't read any of these books, though a bunch are on my TBR list. Because I am an epic fail. But let me know in the comments below if any of these are worth reading!

I haven't read the first book, Miss Peregrine's House for Peculiar Children, but I've heard good things. And this is totally a stupid reason for wanting to read these, but him and Tahereh Mafi are married and now I feel like I must read his books. Lol. But seriously, is this cover not super creepy? That little girl is terrifying.

This cover is so creepy. The fog, the house. *shudders* I recently read Antigoddess by Kendare Blake, my first book of hers and I loved it. I immediately added this to my TBR list.

Um creepy. It looks like this girl is dead. Or dying. The lighting, the dress. Looks like the start of a horror movie.

Someone should...not let that person out of wherever they are trapped. They definitely look evil.

I actually have this book sitting on my table waiting for me to read. It sounds really good. But this cover is so creepy. What is with the dead-looking girls in water?

The forest, the birds, the strange light seeping through the trees. Creepy. Also, I haven't read this book, but the synopsis sounds eerily familiar to Fallen by Lauren Kate. Like the exact same plot. Has anyone read this? I'm now really curious if the book is similar or if it's just a bunch of coincidences.

This has been on my TBR list for forever, but I just haven't gotten around to reading it. But that cover is creepy. The greys and all the feathers falling off his wings.

This book actually sounds really good! Definitely something right up my alley. But hello creepy cover. I do like that it's like a fingerprint within the outline of the super creepy person.

Um, there are knives hanging over that baby carriage. Hanging from a tree with no leaves. (Naked trees are so creepy, right?) and then all that fog or cloud cover in the background. Terrifying. But the synopsis sounds awesome. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

This girl is being washed away by the ocean on a planet that is not Earth. Creepy. This book sounds so good though! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

What are your Halloween plans? What scary books have you read this month? Are you dressing up for Halloween? What's your costume going to be? Unfortunately I can't dress up because I am moving the next day and all my stuff will be packed. Boo.

    1. Lol I hate them too. I really hate scary things so if it looks scary, I'm typically steering clear. I'm such a baby. Why are the creepiest covers always a little girl in a nightgown or a dress in black and white??? Why?? Why is that so creepy??? That's always how it is in the horror movies. But I still want to read Ransom's books. I've heard that Miss Peregrine isn't that scary... maybe I'll pick it up.

    1. Even the title of Possessed is creepy. They are. I haven't read his Miss Peregrine's book, but I have heard that the pictures inside the book are just as creepy as the cover.

  3. That Ransom Riggs cover is INTENSELY creepy! I can't wait until it comes out. I love Halloween and horror so I've been trying to fit in as many creepy reads as I can.

    1. I am the opposite. I really hate scary things. I'll read some of these, but the really scary looking ones I'll skip. Lol

  4. Definitely some creepy covers. I really enjoyed Frozen and I've had Unwind on my Kindle for awhile, but I haven't gotten around to it. I read My Name is Memory forever ago and I really don't remember it (my name is definitely not memory, ha ha). I remember that I liked it, that's about it. Have a fun Halloween! ~Pam

    1. I really want to read Frozen! I had it from the library, but we are moving so I had to return it before I had the chance to read it. :( It was a sad day in my life. But my library has it on overdrive so I think I'm just going to request the ebook. :)

  5. Anna Dressed in Blood, Frozen, Hush Hush, and Salvage are really pretty! The one I find really creepy is Unwind! That thumbprint looks so scary. Hollow City definitely scares me. Great list!

    1. Yeah I agree that there's something pretty about some of these even tho they are also creepy. I love the cover of Salvage. It's kinda creepy, but also gorgeous with Earth and the ocean.

  6. I just heard about Salvage and it does sound like a really good book! I didn't realize how creepy the cover was though but now that I really think about it...

    1. I know right? It's totally not a creepy book, but the cover is kinda eerie.

  7. I am not really into scary things either. No movies, haunted houses, creepy costumes, etc. I even get pissed if my husband accidentally sneaks up on me and startles me ( I have suggested sock bells), but I love, love, love spooky books. I think because I feel like I am in control of just how scared I get. :P Great list!

    1. Occasionally my husband tries to sneak up on me and scare me. When he succeeds he is in trouble for hours. I get so mad at him. You'd think he would learn.... That is a good point about books. You are in control in a sense. If it gets too scary you can just stop reading.
