Today is the big day! The husband and I are moving across the country....again. So both of us are originally from Chicago. Three years ago, he moved out to Washington state for work. One year later, I joined him. I've been here for two years now. And now we are moving again! This time to Virginia, right outside of DC! We are both so excited to get to the East Coast. We have friends and family out there and it's closer to Chicago than Washington is. The last few days have been a flurry of activity. The movers came on Wednesday and boxed everything up. Thursday they came back and put it all on a truck. Both of our cars also got picked up on Thursday. And now, we are on a plane flying out to Virginia and saying goodbye to Washington (hopefully forever).
I can't say I'm sad to leave Washington. I didn't enjoy my time here too much. But I met some great people and made some wonderful friends! (Ana, I'm talking to you here.) Oh and also, the library here is amazing. Like incredible. And I am so sad to be leaving it behind. Hopefully Virginia has a library that's just as good! *crosses fingers* So if anybody lives in the DC area and wants to get together and talk books with me, let me know!
Anyway, just wanted to update you guys on what was going on in my life. And now all my posts will be scheduled on Eastern time! Yay! And I'll get books three hours faster on release day! Hooray! I feel like the West Coast is so out of it because of the time difference. Everything comes on TV at weird times and everybody knows everything before we do. So I'm very excited to be on East Coast time. Is that weird?
Also, if anybody lives in the DC area and has food recommendations or shopping recommendations please let me know! I love trying new places! Thanks for all your wonderful support guys! I love all of you! *hugs* See you on the East Coast!
Have you ever moved across the country? Tell me all about it! I want to hear about others experiences.
I think you will like the weather in Virginia better, too. It is a beautiful place, at least most of it. Colorado is a beautiful place too, IF you find the right place. Hope you love it there.
ReplyDeleteWe actually lived in the Eastern half of Washington and the weather was fantastic. We got over 300 days of sunshine a year and it almost never snowed. So that's one thing we are actually going to miss, but I hear Virginia is beautiful. I can't wait to see all the pretty colored trees! Thanks!
DeleteYay!!! So glad you're finally leaving Washington...I remember how happy I was to get out of that place, so I know how you feel!! I've never been to the east coast, I'm going to have to convince Neema that a trip there needs to happen...
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!! With the baby so I can hold her!!! And buy her shoes and headbands and all the adorable things!! It is such a relief to finally be gone. The only things I'll miss are the weather, the library, and our apartment. Lol.
DeleteTotal epic fail of commenting on my part, because you posted this a week ago... but I hope your move went good! The East Coast US looks so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI haven't moved across the country but I did move 4 provinces over from my own (about 24 hour road trip) and it was long and tiring but a very fun experience when I look back on it.
I hope everything goes great for you and your husband :)
Lol, that's okay! Thank you! The move went really well. We are in a hotel right now, which kinda sucks, but are looking for a place to live. We went apt hunting this whole weekend and found a bunch of places that we really like. Now we just have to decide....
Delete24 hour road trip is a pretty far move! Thank god my husband and I didn't have to drive. I would've died. Lol. We moved from Chicago to Washington state a few years ago and drove. It was 32 hours, the worst 32 hours of my life (ok, that might be a slight exaggeration). But when his company was like we can either ship your cars to Virginia or you can drive, I was all about shipping them and flying. :)
Moving can be very stressful, packing all your things and making sure everything has been loaded in the truck. But the excitement of living in a new country changes it all. How are you with your new home, by the way? I hope you’re having a great time!

It can be, but it actually went really smoothly with the moving company that we used. We actually just moved into our new place yesterday so now it's just a matter of finding places for all of our stuff. Unpacking sucks!!
