Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine where we discuss what books we can't wait for! My pick for today is:
Talker 25 by Joshua McCune
Publisher: Greenwillow
Expected Publication Date: April 22, 2014
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Debut author Joshua
McCune's gritty and heart-pounding novel is a masterful reimagining of
popular dragon fantasy lore, set in a militant future reminiscent of
Paolo Bacigalupi's Ship Breaker and Ann Aguirre's Outpost.
It's a high school prank gone horribly wrong-sneaking onto the rez to pose next to a sleeping dragon-and now senior Melissa Callahan has become an unsuspecting pawn in a war between Man and Monster, between family and friends and the dragons she has despised her whole life. Chilling, epic, and wholly original, this debut novel imagines a North America where dragons are kept on reservations, where strict blackout rules are obeyed no matter the cost, where the highly weaponized military operates in chilling secret, and where a gruesome television show called Kissing Dragons unites the population. Joshua McCune's debut novel offers action, adventure, fantasy, and a reimagining of popular dragon lore.

Dragons. That's all. Seriously I love dragons! There's really not enough of them in YA literature. Dragons are so cool. Why aren't there more books about them. I love the idea of a reality show with dragons. It kind of reminds me of the reality shows with the vampires in The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. This is totally something humans would do. Anyway, this one sounds awesome. I actually have an ARC of it from the publisher and I can't wait to get started on it!
Have you heard of this one? Do you know of any other YA books with dragons in them? What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
Oooh, I hadn't heard of this one -- thanks for sharing!
