Synopsis
from Goodreads:
In a pursuit that has
spanned continents, Iolanthe, Titus, and their friends have always managed to
remain one step ahead of the forces of Atlantis. But now the Bane, the
monstrous tyrant who bestrides the entire mage world, has issued his ultimatum:
Titus must hand over Iolanthe, or watch as his entire realm is destroyed in a
deadly rampage. Running out of time and options, Iolanthe and Titus must act
decisively to deliver a final blow to the Bane, ending his reign of terror for
good.
However, getting to the Bane means accomplishing the impossible—finding a way to infiltrate his crypt in the deepest recesses of the most ferociously guarded fortress in Atlantis. And everything is only made more difficult when new prophecies come to light, foretelling a doomed effort....
Iolanthe and Titus will put their love and their lives on the line. But will it be enough?

My
Review:
Perfection. That’s what
this book was. It was the perfect ending to this epic fantasy series. I loved
every single second reading it. I read it one sitting and tore through it,
unable to put it down. I had to know what was going to happen and how it was
all going to end. Throughout this series we have been given so many details,
crumbs of the story, leaving a trail all over the pages of the books. And now
those crumbs finally lead to answers. The way that Sherry Thomas wove all these
details together was astounding. I loved seeing everything come together and
the way it all came together was magnificent. No detail was unnecessary. Every
single one had a purpose.
The plot and the pacing
were crazy. In the best way. This book is probably the fastest-paced of all
three. The action doesn’t let up the whole time reading. There is no rest for
our heroes. They battle tooth and nail from beginning to end. I loved that
things weren’t easy for them. They had to fight every step of the way. And
every time they thought something would work out, another obstacle would be
thrown their way. Sherry Thomas knows the definition of “think of the worst
thing that can happen to your characters and then make it worse.” She’s
mastered that part of her craft.
The magic was out of
this world. This book and series has so much magic within the pages. There’s
fantastical creatures, spells, elemental magic, elixirs, potions and more. All
of this magic had me doing my internal happy dance. Books like these make me
wish magic could be real.
So we finally get to
see the all-powerful Bane in this book and holy shit is this guy fucked up. I
wanted to jump in the pages and kill him myself. He is quite easily one of the
worst villains I have ever encountered. Sick and twisted, my skin burned with hatred
for him as I was reading.
You know what my
favorite thing about this series is? Titus and Iolanthe. And not just the
romance in general. Which is amazing. Seriously, these two are fucking
adorable. The banter between them is perfect. They provide comic relief when
things get serious. Their love for each other has withstood a lot and I loved
seeing them together. But my favorite thing about these two is that they communicate
and work through their problems. They don’t just argue and nitpick like many
couples we see nowadays in YA. They work on their problems and resolve them.
And they work together towards a common goal. There’s a mutual respect between
the two of them and it allows them to become a remarkable team. More
relationships like this in YA please!
There are so many
moments in this book that made me laugh and also brought me to tears. I cried
several times, screamed in rage and/or fear and laughed and smiled at these
characters. So many feels guys. If you haven’t read this series and you’re a
fan of fantasy you are seriously missing out. I think this is a really
under-read fantasy series and I will now commence the book-pushing in full
force. READ IT READ IT READ IT! I want more fantasy from Sherry Thomas because
if it’s anything like this, I know I won’t be disappointed. One of the best
series enders I have ever read. Every detail coming together in an epic
conclusion that will leave you breathless.
Have you read this book yet? Please gush over the ending with me!! And if you haven't read it, get on it!
