And we are officially in holiday season, people. It's November, which means Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Christmas is only a few short weeks away. That means it's time to bust out the Christmas lists and start shopping! Yay! As much as I hate the fact that winter is quickly creeping up on us, I love the holiday season. I love shopping for people, getting dressed up to go to different holiday parties and spending time with friends and family. But before I get too ahead of myself, let's talk about what I was up to in October!

I reviewed a lot of books last month! I'm trying really hard to chug through some of my review books and I think I was pretty successful this past month. I also reread The Burning Sky and The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas this month which was super fun. Book of the month was most definitely The Immortal Heights. I have so much love for this fantasy series and if you haven't read it yet, you are so missing out on life. I read a lot of amazing books last month though! Check out those 4, 4.5 and 5 star reviews people!
Other Posts:
I wrote a movie review for The Scorch Trials. If you want to skip the post I'll just tell you it was the worst adaptation I've ever seen and I basically wrote this ranty letter type thing to Wes Ball (the director) about how mad I was. I read mostly based on a schedule, but I wrote a post about some of the pitfalls of doing that and why a schedule isn't always the best thing for me. I also discussed going through genre phases were I get hooked on one particular genre for a while and when I try to read outside that genre it just doesn't work.
Here's a post you can pass onto any new friends if you're a book blogger: advice to people who have recently befriended a book blogger. I also talked about how much I love Halloween because it allows me to become someone else for the day, much like books allow me to escape the real world for a few hours. And finally I gave you an update on my writing progress. I'm still deep in revisions and am slowly chugging away.
My most popular post for the month in regards to comments and/or Twitter love was definitely my social media insecurities. I talked about how I don't have time to keep up with all the different social media outlets that are out there and how sometimes that makes me feel like I'm becoming irrelevant.
In My Real Life:
October was kind of a quiet month in my real life, although it flew by really fast. Phil and I went to see The Martian earlier this month and it was amazing!! Oh my gosh, so good. I loved every second of it. Matt Damon forever. We also helped our friends move into their new house they just bought. The house is stunning and I'm so happy for them!
And of course, it was Halloween. I had two costumes this year, one for work and one for a party I went to on Saturday.
For work, my friend and I dressed up as Catwoman and Poison Ivy from Batman. We were the badass Batman villainesses and we ran the office that day.
And for the party, Phil and I went as Robin Hood and the Evil Queen. All you Once Upon a Time fans get it.
We had a great time at the party and I was pretty much obsessed with my costume. I wish I could wear a skirt like this every day, short in the front and floor length in the back. I felt like one badass bitch.
Fast-Forward:
Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young: November 3, 2015: About a mysterious hotel with exclusive invitation only parties. I feel like this is going to be creepy and awesome. And I love Suzanne Young.
Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins: November 3, 2015: A story of time travel and mystery. The time travel already has me sold.
Need by Joelle Charbonneau: November 3, 2015: About a social media site that promises to grant your every need.
For the Record by Charlotte Huang: November 10, 2015: About a girl who lands a job as the lead singer of a famous band. This one sounds like it will be a cute and fun read.
Soundless by Richelle Mead: November 10, 2015: About a girl who uses sound as a weapon. This book sounds amazing!
Winter by Marissa Meyer: November 10, 2015: OMG YOU GUYS, IT'S ALMOST HERE AND I'M DYING AND I NEED IT AND I'M SCARED!!!
Da Vinci's Tiger by L.M. Elliott: November 10, 2015: About a girl who becomes Da Vinci's muse. The synopsis reminds me of A Mad, Wicked Folly which I loved so I'm hoping to fall in love with this one too.
Reckless Hearts by Sean Olin: November 24, 2015: This is the companion to Wicked Games which was one of those guilty pleasure books for me. It was twisted and screwed up and I loved every second of it so I'm looking forward to this one.
How was your October? What did you dress up as for Halloween? What was your favorite book you read last month and what November release are you most looking forward to?
I love both of your Halloween costumes! I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of Da Vinci's Tiger. It sounds so good, but I've seen mostly 'meh' and negative reviews.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Oh no! I haven't really looked at any of the reviews. I hope I enjoy it because it sounds so similar to A Mad, Wicked Folly and I LOVED that book.
