A to Z Bookish Survey

Jamie over @ The Perpetual Page-Turner created this awesome bookish survey and welcomed anyone to participate. Like her, I used to be addicted to all the surveys on Myspace. (I feel like such a loser admitting that I was a Myspace addict...) But alas, I was. I guess there's still a small part of me that craves those surveys, because when I saw Jamie's post, I knew I had to participate. As I was reading her answers, I was already thinking of my own.

AtoZsurvey

Author You've Read the Most Books From:

According to Goodreads, my most read author is Cassandra Clare. I'm not sure how accurate this since I've read a lot more books than I've logged on Goodreads, but I'm sure she is definitely near the top so we will go with that. I love her books and I will probably never stop reading them.

Best Sequel Ever:

The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson. The Girl of Fire and Thorns was amazing, but then the sequel was just wow. And Hector. Need I say more? He's one of my Top Book Boyfriends and he totally made this sequel amazing.

Currently Reading:

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Starbucks Iced Peppermint Mocha. I drink them all year round people, not just at Christmas time. (Psst...they have the peppermint all year round, they just don't advertise it!)

E-Reader or Physical Book:

Physical Book. Definitely. I don't even own a Kindle. While I do think they are nice for things like going on vacation, I like the feel and smell of a physical book.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated in High School:

Jace Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments. I went for the jock types that were pretty and knew it. Sound like Jace? Yep. Probably would've dated him. I married a man completely the opposite. <3

Glad You Gave This Book a Chance:

I'm going to go with Jamie on this one: Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I was so hesitant about picking up this book, but I fell absolutely in love with it. So glad I gave it a shot.

Hidden Gem Book:
Soulbound by Heather Brewer. Read it people. It's amazing.

Important Moment In Your Reading Life:

Getting a library card again. Reintroduced me to the wonderful world of books after not reading throughout half of high school and all of college. I love my library!

Just Finished:

Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers.

Kinds of Books You Won't Read:

Nonfiction. Can't do it. It's just boring. We actually did an entire Top Ten Tuesday topic on this a couple weeks ago.

Longest Book You've Read:

According to Goodreads (thanks for the tip, Jamie), Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare at 570 pages. I'm still trying to work up the courage to read the Game of Thrones series...

Major Book Hangover Because:

The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson: This book was just so good. I couldn't/didn't want to read anything else after this. I just wanted to sit my butt down in Elisa's world and stay there. Plus it ended on a horrifying cliffhanger and I wanted to cry for the next five days. So yeah. It was pretty bad.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

Don't judge me. There is currently only one in my apartment. I know, I know. This is because over half of my books are in a box in Illinois. I moved to Washington a year and a half ago, but didn't bring all my stuff because we are trying to move back so half of my stuff is still boxed up at my mom's house. That being said, I still have way too many books here for my one shelf and they are basically scattered all across my apartment.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I love this book. I don't care what all the haters out there say, I freaking love this book. I probably read it at least 15 times in high school. I have it in paperback and hardcover. My paperback cover is literally falling off, it's so well-loved.

Preferred Place to Read:

On the beach. I keep telling my husband he needs to get a job near the ocean and buy us a  beach house so I can read on the beach every day. He says he'll get right on it...

Quote that Inspires You/Gives You All the Feels From a Book You've Read:

“I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.” -Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. I love this book. Truly amazing. This quote resonated with me. I don't feel I deserve a lot of the things I've been blessed with. But for some unknown reason, God has decided to bless me and I need to learn to be happy and thankful for that.

Reading Regret:

Okay, I'm going to steal Jamie's again... I also regret not reading Harry Potter when it first came out. It wasn't my fault, not really. My parents were super strict when I was younger and they wouldn't let me read a book about "witchcraft". Apparently they thought I would turn into a witch? Silly parents. I still want to read these books one day. I feel like I'm missing out. Everyone is constantly making Harry Potter references and I never know what they are talking about. I haven't even seen any of the movies. :(

Series You Started and Need to Finish (all the books are out in the series):

I'm actually really good about finishing the series that I start. I'm kind of neurotic about it. I keep a spreadsheet guys. If I don't I lose track. Anyway, there isn't a series that I need to finish that has all the books out. I am pretty much up to date on everything. Woot!

Three of Your All-Time Favorite Books

How do I just pick three? Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson. And Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. *Self-control. Do not add more books, Becca.*

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Jamie fangirled over an author, but I'm going to fangirl over a character. Warner from Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series. I will fangirl like crazy for Warner and I am definitely not going to apologize for it. Love him!

Very Excited for this Release More Than All the Others:

It's a tie. I can't decide. Either City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare or Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi.

Worst Bookish Habit

I treat my books like babies so this one was hard for me. I don't dog-ear pages, I don't break the spines. I literally take the jacket off my hardcover books while I'm reading so I don't bend/tear them. But I came up with one that is sort of a bad habit. Leaving my books lying around. I never put them on a shelf. This is normally because I don't have room on the shelf, but also because I'm too lazy. So my books are just strewn all over the apartment with no home.

X Marks the Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

Defiance by C.J. Redwine.

Your Latest Book Purchase:

I bought three at the same time and they were all pre-orders. Deception by C.J. Redwine, Champion by Marie Lu, and Allegiant by Veronica Roth.

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. I didn't even think that I would like the book that much and then I was up all night reading it. I kept doing the whole "just one more chapter" thing. 549 pages later...

Thanks Jamie for creating this survey for all of us book lovers to participate in! If you want to do the survey, just make sure you link back to Jamie's blog here. 1. I have The Girl of Fire and Thorns, but think I want to wait until book 3 is out to start the series! I've heard it is my kind of book so I'm excited!! I need to read Cinder too. I was never too interested in it, but everyone tells me I need to read it.... many being people that seem VERY unlikely to read a book like that! That says a lot!

    1. At this point, I would wait until the third one comes out since it's coming out at the end of the month! Then you can have a Girl of Fire and Thorns reading marathon! Cinder is soooo good! I'm so happy I gave it a chance. You will probably love it. I loaned it to one of my friends (Cinder was not the type of book she normally reads) and she read it in one sitting.
