Movie Review: Catching Fire

Oh yeah, I rocked that Katniss side-braid for the movie. I went to see Catching Fire last weekend with the hubby. This was our conversation the week before:

Me: Do you want to go see Catching Fire with me this weekend?

Him: I don't know. Maybe.

Me: There was only one correct answer to that question.

So anyway, we went. Obviously. We just moved to Virginia and hadn't been to a movie yet so we went to a brand new theater a couple miles from our hotel. I bought the tickets online because I was scared that they would sell out. After I purchased the tickets it asked me to select my seats. What? I had never been to a theater with assigned seats. *shrugs* So I selected some seats. When we got there, we got our tickets and snacks and headed in. We were met with the most glorious thing in the whole world. Full leather recliners. Omg. They recline all the way back. They each had their own individual swivel table on them. It was magical. I died. I wanted to stay there all day.

Anyway, you guys probably don't care about any of that. What you care about are my thoughts on the movie, right? Well let me tell you: holy epic-awesomeness. I cried four times. FOUR TIMES. I've never cried so much during a movie. It was absolutely perfect. Stunning. So true to the book.

The casting for these movies is spectacular. Jennifer Lawrence is a goddess. Seriously. She's gorgeous and so freaking talented. I don't even want to go into too many details because I don't want to spoil anything for you guys. Just do me and yourself a favor and go see this movie. If you don't see it in theaters you are going to regret it for the rest of your life. I'm serious.

When the credits started rolling I just sat there staring into space.

Husband: Are you okay?

Me: *stares*

Husband: *waves hand in front of my face*

Me: *stares*

Husband: Becca?

Me: I just need a few minutes to process.

Then we got back to the hotel and I was all: Can we see it again right now???

So yeah, go see it. It was amazing, incredible, spectacular, perfection. The best book to movie adaptation I have ever seen. Seriously. Astounding. I can't. I can't even. Every time I think about it, I get overwhelmed with all the feels.

  1. Just got home from watching the movie like what? 2 hours ago? AND IT WAS SO GOOD. SO GOOD. I CAN'T. I JUST.

I FEEL EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID.

The casting was perfect, the sets and costumes were AMAZING and EXACTLY how I pictured them when I read the book, and music, the pacing, the way things were cut... It was perfect.

THIS. IS HOW YOU ADAPT A BOOK TO MOVIE <3 Really wanted to turn back into the cinema right there and then to catch the next show but ugh, dinner time budget problems, will make time for a rewatch! I promise!! SO GOOD. Feel like recommending it to just about anyone like you are =D

    1. Omg I know right!!! I seriously like died in the theater. I was so stunned and so amazed. I NEVER thought that a book could be adapted so well. Never in my wildest dreams. I was kind of worried to because they changed the director for this one and I really like the first one, but OMG. This director was even better than the last one!!! I want to just sit in the theater and watch it over and over again. *sigh* If only I had an unlimited supply of money....

I'm basically shoving the movie down people's throats. I asked my sister if she was going to go see it and she was all "I don't know, I have work and stuff" and I was like "I don't care if you have work! Make time to see this movie or you'll regret it forever!" Might have been a bit intense.... lol. But it was JUST. THAT. GOOD.

  2. I'm seeing this tomorrow and I can't wait. I've heard such great things about this movie, that it's much better than The Hunger Games, etc. I meant to reread the book beforehand, but I didn't get around to it and I thought it might make me too nitpicky about any changes they make. So glad you enjoyed it and the theater sounds awesome! ~Pam

    1. Yay! So excited to hear your thoughts, although I already know you'll love it. I didn't reread Catching Fire before I saw it, but it was like I was seeing the book play out in front of me. Seriously. There were only two things I noticed that they left out of the movie, but they really weren't that important and I didn't mind at all. Jennifer Lawrence is seriously so amazing. I am in love with her. Like total girl crush. Lol.

  3. I cried a lot too! And I was crying for some really non-cry inducing things! When Finnick came on screen I kinda squealed...and flailed... anyways the movie was pure genious. The ending left me speechless even though I had already read the book and knew hownit was supposed to end. It was so faithfull! I loved it. Definitely, best movie I've seen this year.

    1. I think when I go see it again I'm going to cry even more. Just because I know how epic it is and I'm just going to be so happy and overwhelmed by its awesomeness. The ending was amazing. Katniss's face. Omg. I died. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing!! And yes, best movie I've seen this year as well.

  4. Though it was a tad long, the ending had me hyped-up and ready for what's next to come. Nice review Rebecca.

    1. It was pretty long, but I appreciated that because it allowed the movie to be kept more true to the book. I am so stoked for Mockingjay Part one and two now! I don't want to wait for them. Lol.
